Toyota’s Automatic High Beam System Brings a New Level of Safety to Drivers

Toyota’s Automatic High Beam (AHB) System delivers a new level of safety and assurance to drivers everywhere. AHB automatically switches between high and low beams so that drivers can have increased forward visibility when driving at night.

According to Toyota Global, “AHB detects nearby light sources such as the headlights or tail lights of vehicles ahead. The system automatically switches between high beams and low beams to ensure optimum nighttime visibility. This also helps vehicles detect pedestrians at night from further away.”

High beams are automatically activated during the following conditions:

  – Vehicle speed is 30km/h or more

 – Area in front of vehicle is dark

 – No oncoming headlights

 – No tail lights in front of vehicle

 – No strong lighting, from street lights, etc., ahead of vehicle

High beams are automatically deactivated during the following conditions:

 – Vehicle speed is less than 30km/h

 – Area in front of vehicle is not dark

 – Oncoming headlights are detected

 – Tail lights are detected in front of vehicle

 – There are significant nearby lighting sources from street lights, etc.

Here’s an example of how AHB works in action.

Toyota Moves Closer to 2020 All-Electric Car Debut

Regardless of one’s views on climate change and oil consumption, automakers like Toyota have realized that most car buyers appreciate increased fuel efficiency. They are interested in the reduced impact on the environment, a concept first highlighted by the automaker when it released the Prius in the U.S. in 2000. Other carmakers have focused on all-electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids. Toyota is taking its time, determined to get it right the first time.

Battery Tech Is Still Lagging for Many Vehicles

The Toyota Prius Prime is the most advanced example of battery technology in the Japanese carmaker’s arsenal and gets up to 133 MPGe, second best in the U.S., according to Green Car Reports. Part of that is likely because, as the publication notes, it runs solely on electric power to start. Most other plug-in hybrids start with the gasoline motor and the batteries kick in later, and at low speeds.

One problem Toyota is facing is that in order to reach the admittedly high standards set by the Prius family, and even its Mirai FCV, it must first deal with battery technology that is years out of date. The lithium-ion batteries in use across every industry are similar to the ones found in laptops from the early 1990s.

Toyota Takes Individual Approach to Maximizing Battery Benefits

While the Japanese carmaker has not decided to avoid all-electric vehicles, it has focused on ensuring that each element, from drivetrain to battery, matches customer demands. One particularly important development is in the design of the battery. It uses different ionic compounds than other batteries; this means engineers can watch the flow of ions and energy while the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is already in use.

Batteries discharge energy as these ions travel from one side of the element to the other. However, to increase capacity, the two rods that they move between must allow for some “clumping.” This would be comparable to a group of children running from one sideline of a field to another. Eventually, they start running into each other or forming clumps, just like the ions.

This advancement in the research process gives Toyota’s designers the ability to see how changes in designs impact efficiency. This process, backed by a few years of effort, should ensure that any all-electric vehicles launched by Toyota in 2020 or beyond should be leaders in efficiency and performance.

Toyota Has Had a Substantial Impact on America’s Economy, According to New Study

We’re happy to report that the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) has a new study out that reports the positive employment and economic contribution of Toyota to the U.S. economy. According to CAR, Toyota has a total employment impact of 470,100 jobs, $32.3 billion in private non-farm payroll (0.35 percent of total U.S. private compensation) resulting in $23.6 billion in net disposable income for individuals. Furthermore, each Toyota job creates employment for 6.1 people at suppliers or manufacturing support companies.

Thinking of Buying a New Toyota? Why Leasing May Be the Better Choice

You have a lot of decisions to make when the time comes for a new set of wheels. You need to decide which type of vehicle is best for you, how much to spend and which features are most important. You want to look at reliability ratings, test crash results and long term resale values.
You also want to get the most for your money no matter what type of vehicle you ultimately decide is right for you. And last but not least, you need to decide whether to buy your next vehicle or lease it instead.
If you have compiled a list of potential Toyota vehicles for your next vehicle, there are some compelling reasons to consider a lease instead of buying the car, truck or SUV outright. Here are some of the many advantages of leasing versus buying your next Toyota.
Leasing is the natural choice for drivers who need the value and reliability of a brand new vehicle. If you love to drive the latest and greatest vehicles in the Toyota lineup, leasing allows you to trade up whenever you want and always drive the newest and most technologically sophisticated vehicle on the market.
If you normally buy your Toyota vehicles, you may want to consider leasing if you typically drive less than 12,000 to 15,000 miles per year. Low mileage leases are great for reducing the overall cost of ownership and Toyota offers a number of such leases to put you in the car, truck or SUV you have always wanted.
Leasing is less efficient for buyers who put a lot of miles on their vehicles or tend to keep their cars for many years, but even those buyers may want to check out the relative value of leasing compared to buying. Royal Palm Toyota has a number of resources you can use to make this important decision and get you in your new car.
If you own a business or plan to use your new Toyota car, truck or SUV for business purposes, it also makes sense to consider leasing instead of buying. When you lease your next Toyota, you may be able to write off much of the cost when you complete your next income tax return. If you choose to buy, the amount you get to write off can be a bit more limited. You should, of course, always consult a tax expert before making the final decision or writing off the cost of the lease against your business income.
As you can see, there are many compelling reasons to consider leasing your next Toyota car, truck or SUV instead of buying it outright. From better tax treatment to the ability to trade up to the latest model without any hassles, there are plenty of reasons why leasing makes so much sense. If you think that leasing is right for you, just head down to Royal Palm Toyota to choose your next vehicle and get a great deal on a great lease.

Action or Auction at Royal Palm Toyota

If you are looking for a way to save money and put more cash away for the future, it is a good idea to start with your largest expenses. No matter who you are or where you live, chances are your monthly car payment is one of your biggest monthly costs. Reducing the cost of that monthly car payment is one of the most effective ways to trim your budget and get your finances under control.
The next time you are in the market for a new set of wheels, you need to think carefully about your finances and put your hard earned money where it will do the most good. In many cases that means buying a pre-owned Toyota car, truck or SUV instead of wasting money on a brand new model.
There are many reasons why a pre-owned Toyota is often the best value, starting with the problem of depreciation. Toyota vehicles are known for their legendary resale value, and those used cars, trucks and SUVs are almost always easy to sell on the secondary market. That does not mean, however, that Toyota vehicles are immune from the laws of depreciation.
When you drive a brand new Toyota off the lot, that sound you hear is the vehicle depreciating with every passing mile. If you buy a brand new car, truck or SUV, you take the hit on the depreciation. If you choose a pre-owned Toyota instead, you get to benefit from that depreciation instead of being victimized by it.
Compared to the cost of a brand new vehicle, buying a pre-owned Toyota could save you thousands of dollars. That means thousands of dollars less in car loans, thousands more dollars in your pocket and a jump start on your financial future.
Searching for pre-owned Toyota can also give you access to a wider universe of cars, trucks and SUVs rather than limiting your search to new vehicles alone. When you head down to your local Toyota dealer, you will probably encounter dozens or even hundreds of vehicles, but not everything on the lot will be brand new. When you expand your search criteria to include pre-owned Toyota vehicles as well, you give yourself far more choices and the ability to select the best values for yourself and your family.
Some people are reluctant to look at pre-owned Toyota vehicles because they worry about reliability. Perhaps they remember the sketchy used cars they drove when they were younger, or harbor memories of poorly maintained and unreliable vehicles.
When you buy a pre-owned Toyota from Royal Palm Toyota, you can put those fears and bad memories to rest. That is because every car, truck and SUV offered for sale through the Toyota pre-owned program have been thoroughly vetted and examined. When you buy one of these vehicles, you can buy with confidence and drive away knowing you got a great value.
Buying a pre-owned Toyota could not be easier. Just head down to Royal Palm Toyota to see the extensive selection of quality pre-owned cars, trucks and SUVs for yourself. Feel free to kick the tires, take a test drive and enjoy your bargain for many years to come.

Putting Safety in the Driver Seat – Why Toyotas are Top Safety Picks

When you go shopping for a new car, truck or SUV, you make a list of the things you have to have. From advanced technology to connect your smartphone to the radio to a capable engine to power your daily commute, you need to look for a wide variety of features to get the most for your money.
No matter what kind of vehicle you are looking for, however, safety should be at the top of your shopping list. If the vehicle you choose is not a safe one, it does not matter how modern the technology is or how powerful the engine.
Year after year, Toyota has been at the top of the safety category. The iconic Japanese automaker consistently makes the top of the list published by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Year after year, model after model, Toyota makes the grade and heads up the list of safest vehicles on the road. How do they do it, and what makes Toyota such a smart safety pick?
Ever since they first started making cars, Toyota has been dedicated to the safety of drivers, passengers and other motorists. Building safety into every vehicle it makes has long been standard operating procedure at Toyota, and the automaker’s commitment to protecting drivers, passengers and pedestrians has only grown stronger over the years.
Throughout the years, Toyota has been on the cutting edge of automotive safety technology, and its newest models include a host of safety features designed to protect both operators and passengers. Modern Toyota vehicles can be outfitted with teen driver technologies that forces drivers to use their seatbelts, obey posted speed limits and follow the rules of the roads. These safety equipped vehicles can even report driver behavior to worried parents, sparking powerful conversations and helping new drivers stay safe behind the wheel.
One of the things that makes Toyota such a smart safety pick is the fact that safety technology has been built into every vehicle from the ground up. No matter which Toyota vehicle you choose, you can enjoy a host of advanced safety features, including traction control for better handling even the most challenging driving conditions, antilock braking systems for superior stopping power in emergency situations and vehicle stability control to enhance safety even further.
Toyota vehicles also come with the advanced Smart Stop Technology® (SST), designed to prevent accidents before they happen. In fact, Toyota vehicles equipped with Smart Stop Technology® (SST) have routinely found themselves at the top of the IIHS Safety Pick list.
With so much going for them, it is no wonder Toyota vehicles are consistently rated among the safest on the road. The insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is one of the most widely respected and recognized safety agencies in the world, and the fact that they rate Toyota cars, trucks and SUVs so highly speaks volumes. If you have been looking for a safe vehicle for the whole family, just head down to your local Toyota dealer to see what driver protection is all about.

Toyota No Cost Maintenance Program

Most experienced drivers know that buying a car is only one part of the total cost of ownership. The cost of maintaining and repairing the car you drive can be a significant expense. That is why buyers look so carefully at things like reliability ratings and fuel economy before making a purchase decision.
Carmakers also know they have a vested interest in making their vehicles economical to buy and just as economical to own. Toyota is once again leading the way in reducing the overall cost of ownership. Its innovative no cost maintenance program is designed to make owning a Toyota less expensive, more predictable and much more fun.
The Toyota no cost maintenance program means drivers have one less thing to worry about. Instead of fretting over the cost of regular oil changes, vehicle checks and ongoing maintenance, they can simply head to the dealer to have their Toyota serviced. By reducing the cost barrier, Toyota is also helping owners keep their vehicles in great shape. Drivers are much less likely to skip recommended maintenance or lengthen the time between oil changes if they do not have to worry about the cost.
The goal of the Toyota no cost maintenance program is to provide drivers peace of mind with every vehicle. Toyota has always been dedicated to producing the most reliable cars on the market, and the no cost maintenance program is further proof of that commitment. By providing a full two years of no cost maintenance, Toyota is proving yet again that it is an innovator in the automotive industry.
The Toyota no cost maintenance program covers both new purchases and leases, and it is good for the first two years of ownership or the first 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. The program also includes 24-hour roadside assistance for additional peace of mind. No matter where you drive your new Toyota vehicle, you are covered by the Toyota no cost maintenance program and 24-hour roadside assistance. Even better, this 24-hour roadside assistance program is good for a full two years, no matter how many miles you rack up.
When you do take advantage of the Toyota no cost maintenance program for those first two years, you will know your precious vehicle is in good hands. That is because the no cost maintenance program includes service from highly trained automotive technicians – professionals who know your Toyota inside and out.
Toyota will also keep a detailed record of every service you have done on your new vehicle, making record keeping a snap and further enhancing the already excellent resale value of the car, truck or SUV. Toyota has developed a reputation for having some of the most reliable vehicles on the market, so subsequent owners will be able to buy with confidence.
But Toyota does much more than simply record when you take your Toyota in for an oil change. The Toyota no cost maintenance program also includes timely reminders so you know when to bring your vehicle in for service. This innovative program includes everything you need to keep your new Toyota car, truck or SUV running like new, including full coverage for regular oil and filter changes, inspection and adjustment of all fluid levels and even tire rotation. No matter what your vehicle needs, Toyota has its drivers covered.
In addition to regular oil and filter changes and coverage for tire rotation and fluid level checks, the Toyota no cost maintenance program also gives drivers peace of mind no matter where they go. The program also includes 24 hour roadside assistance to rescue you in an emergency and provide you with additional peace of mind.
The 24 hour roadside assistance program can help you when you are stranded, providing complimentary roadside repairs when possible and no cost towing when needed. The roadside assistance program can even unlock your doors remotely if you lock your keys in your car.
If you are in the market for a new car, truck or SUV, the combination of roadside assistance and no cost maintenance provides two additional reasons why that vehicle should be a Toyota. Just head down to Royal Palm Toyota today to see what the no cost maintenance program has to offer.

A Look at the 2016 Toyota Tundra

If you immediately think of fuel-sipping hybrid sedans when you hear the word Toyota, the 2016 Toyota Tundra just may be enough to change your mind. While Toyota is not as well known for trucks as its American rivals, the iconic Japanese nameplate has been making inroads in this popular market.

Since the market for pickup trucks has been on fire in recent years, this move by Toyota should play out quite well for the automaker. The 2016 Tundra is Toyota’s entry in the lucrative full-size pickup truck market segment, and it is an impressive entry indeed.

In addition to the fact that the Toyota Tundra is a full-size workhorse, the Tundra model is also notable for the fact that starting in 2016 this popular full-size pickup truck will be available with a diesel engine. The only thing hotter than the market for pickup trucks is the market for diesels, and this pickup truck model is expected to score big on both counts.

For the 2016 model year, the Toyota will be available with a V-8 diesel engine, providing plenty of power for work, play or everyday commuting. Making the entry into the diesel market even more impressive is the fact that renowned engine maker Cummins will be supplying the diesel power plant for the new Tundra.

In addition to its impressive new Cummins diesel, the 2016 Toyota Tundra comes with a choice of four different engines. The base engine produces 270 horsepower and 278-lb-ft of torque, and it comes paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. This engine gets a respectable 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway – comparable to other pickups of its size and power.

While ordinary drivers are unlikely to put it to the test, the 2016 Toyota Tundra goes from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, making it a tad faster than previous models. The 2016 Tundra is rated for a top speed of 112 mph – again something that most drivers will probably not put to the test.

The market for full-size pickup trucks has been growing steadily for the past several years, and the recent drop in oil prices is only expected to fuel the popularity of this vehicle class. If you are in the market for a new full-size pickup truck, the new 2016 Toyota Tundra is definitely one to consider. The fuel economy and the available diesel engine are certainly points in its favor, as is its excellent ratings for horsepower and torque.

Before you buy a new full-size pickup trucks from rivals like Ford, Chevy or Nissan, you owe it to yourself to at least test drive the 2016 Toyota Tundra and see what it has to offer. Toyota has long been known for its commitment to quality and customer service, and the 2016 Tundra is a worthy addition to the stable of this popular Japanese carmaker.
