New vehicle technologies are advancing faster than we can track, so our team at Royal Palm Toyota want to make sure you’re not feeling overwhelmed with these new automotive innovations. One new technology automakers have recently been implementing into their vehicles is Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. It sounds impressive, right? But what is it and how does it work? Read on for details!
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and regular cruise control might sound like they would be very similar, but there are actually some pretty big differences. Both systems allow you to set a driving speed you don’t want to surpass, but that’s about where the similarities end. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control takes things a step further by implementing a camera and millimeter-wave radar system that spots a vehicle driving directly in front of you. When you approach a vehicle from behind, the Radar Cruise Control will automatically adjust speed to maintain a safe following distance. If the car in front of you slows down, the system will recognize that and adjust your own speed accordingly, and vice-versa.
The system can be engaged at speeds exceeding 25 miles per hour, and it helps reduce driver fatigue whether you’re on a long road trip, making your morning commute or just taking a quick trip to the grocery store. If you’ve ever been stuck behind a brakes-happy driver, you know how tiring it can be to constantly apply the brakes only to speed up again seconds later. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control solves this issue by automatically slowing down or speeding up your vehicle based on what the vehicle in front of you is doing. This makes highway driving much easier on drivers, and driving long distances becomes much less tiring. Ready to learn how to operate the system?
