What’s New in the 2016 Toyota Corolla?

Toyota has long been one of the most loved and most trusted nameplates in the automotive industry, and the Corolla has been one of the most popular models. Ever since the first Corolla rolled off the assembly line, this iconic sedan has been known for its reliability, fuel economy and strong resale value.

The 2016 version of the Corolla offers many of the features long-time Toyota fans are looking for, plus some additional features that are brand new for this model year. Here are some of the key differences between the brand new 2016 Toyota Corolla and previous incarnations of this classic sedan.

The exterior of the 2016 Toyota Corolla is much the same as the 2015 model. That is because the Corolla underwent a major redesign a couple years ago, so the classic lines and stylish skin of the 2016 Corolla has not changed much.

That does not mean the 2016 Corolla is completely unchanged, however. Sharp-eyed drivers will no doubt spot the beautiful alloy wheels on the LE Plus version, and premium trim versions of the 2016 sedan feature a somewhat darker shade of gray than the regular trim model.

The real differences between the 2015 and 2016 Toyota Corolla mostly center around the technological features of the sedan. The Toyota Entune system is fully on display here, and the new version of this classic sedan includes many more options than the vehicle that rolled off the assembly line a year ago.

The Entune Audio Plus connected navigation systems are optional upgrades for the 2016 Toyota Corolla. The option is available across a number of trim levels, including the LE, LE Eco and S models. Buyers who choose the Entune Audio Plus system will also be able to upgrade to version 2.5, which adds the new Siri Eyes-Free functionally to an already packed list of features.

The 2016 version of the Toyota Corolla also includes Slacker Internet radio so drivers can enjoy their favorite tunes no matter where they roam. For 2016, the Bing search engine has been replaced with Destination Search.

Fans of the Toyota Corolla may want to wait for the 2016 Special Edition. The Special Edition was first announced in February, and it got the attention of Toyota fans from coast to coast. At that time, Toyota announced that they would be building some 8,000 of these Special Edition 2016 Toyota Corolla sedans.

This limited production run is expected to come in at a price point just over $20,000. That price puts the 2016 Special Edition Toyota Corolla in line with similar models from Hyundai and Ford. The Special Edition includes a number of unique features not available in other models, including the Toyota Smart Key system, push button start, specially designed seats and other accent upgrades.  The 2016 Special Edition of the Toyota Corolla also comes in three unique colors – absolutely red, super white and black sand pearl.

Whether you choose the Special Edition or one of the other trim levels, the 2016 Toyota Corolla is definitely worth a look – and a drive. Long time fans of the iconic Japanese carmaker will find all their favorite features, while newcomers will find lots to love as well.
